CHAIRS

  1. Love your chairs! We have some detailed dining chairs kind of like your one with the orange kitty on the seat. We are wanting to paint them in the bright colors and detail all the shapes. We just don't know what kind of paint is the best for a chair that will be used. We of course want it to last. What do you seal it with?

    1. I hope you have fun redoing your chairs. I sand all the shininess off of the surface, usually with a sandpaper of 150 to 220 grit. Dust it off with a tack cloth, then paint it with a primer like Bins, or Zinzer. I use the acrylic craft paints, like Americana, Demco, and Folk Art. I recently started using Martha Stuart satin or semi gloss. You can get them at Michaels Arts and Crafts Store. I let it dry for at least 24 hours before I seal it with waterbased Varathane Polyurathane. You can also use Minwax . I always do a minimum of 3 to 4 coats. It will last for years if you do it this way. Hope this helps. Thanks for visiting my blog, Carolyn
